What's new for 2025?
After a significant redesign for 2025, the Equinox has relatively few changes for 2026. LT models no longer have roof rails included in the Convenience II package but black roof rails are available with the Midnight Edition package or you can get them bundled with the optional sunroof on LT trims. All models now have a drive mode selector and Polar White Tricoat paint replaces Iridescent Pearl Tricoat on Activ and RS trims. Trim levels for 2026 continue to be LT, Activ and RS.
The engine and performance
Every 2026 Chevy Equinox continues to operate with a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that you can count on for 175 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque with standard front-wheel drive. If you move up to all-wheel drive, the torque level rises to 203 pound-feet and the time to 60 mph is about 8.6 seconds. Front-wheel drive models deliver 26 MPG in the city and 28 MPG on the highway, while the all-wheel drive model gets 24 MPG in the city and 29 MPG on the highway. The towing capacity is rated at 1500 pounds with all-wheel drive and 800 pounds with front-wheel drive.
Interior highlights
The cabin in the new 2026 Chevy Equinox is contemporary and attractive with a good blend of both physical and digital controls. Cloth upholstery is the standard arrangement and faux leather is an optional upgrade. The Activ trim comes with a mix of microfiber and vinyl to create a more appealing look and feel. Chevrolet has mounted a shift lever on the steering column so there's more room in the center console for storage.
With that change in the steering column, the new Equinox has a rotary knob controller in the center console that operates the infotainment system along with a pair of cupholders and an available wireless device charger. The Equinox provides 40.9 inches of front legroom, 39.9 inches of rear legroom, 29.8 cubic feet of cargo space with the back seats in the upright position and a total of 63.5 cubic feet when the rear seats are folded down.
Technology
The 2026 Chevy Equinox not only has a contemporary exterior but also an intuitive Google-based infotainment system that can run Apple CarPlay®, a feature that isn't available with the Equinox EV. Every new 2026 Equinox is equipped with two large digital displays mounted on the dashboard, starting with an 11.0-inch digital gauge cluster directly in front of the driver as well as an 11.3-inch infotainment screen in the center. Safety features
Chevy Safety Assist is the suite of safety features in the 2026 Equinox. Standard safety features include automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and a lane-centering feature. Also standard: adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring and automatic high-beam headlights. Safety upgrades include a 360-degree camera and rear pedestrian alert.
